Introduction

As teams transition to Jira Cloud, we’re rolling out tools to simplify migrating Dependency Maps. Here’s what’s available today and what’s coming soon.

Current state

If you need to migrate right now, then see How to migrate to Dependency Map for Jira Cloud. This describes how to manually migrate Dependency Maps to Jira Cloud.

Planned migration support

We have a two phased plan for introducing automated support for migrating to Cloud.

Phase 1: Semi-automated migration

  1. Export: As an admin, export Dependency Maps from Jira Data Center. This generates:
    • A file with map configurations.
    • A mapping file for fields.

Note: Legacy maps must first be upgraded to the Dependency Map 2.0 format – use “Save As” in the map configuration to migrate.

  2. Map Fields: Align the exported fields with your Jira Cloud instance.
  3. Import: As an admin, upload the configurations to Jira Cloud.

Phase 2: Full automation

Later this year, we’ll support the Atlassian Cloud Migration Assistant, automating more of the process. Less manual work, fewer steps—stay tuned!

Final words

We’ll post updates as our Cloud migration support takes shape. For now, if you’re ready to migrate, our manual guide is here to help. Questions? Contact us—we’re happy to assist!
