Introduction

With Dependency Map 2.0, we introduced a new user interface and a new map format. You can still open and view legacy Dependency Maps created with earlier versions, but you need the new format to save configuration changes and use new features. This article explains how to convert legacy maps to the new format on the same Jira instance. (This is separate from migrating maps from Data Center to Cloud.)

Convert a single legacy map

To access legacy maps, check the “Include legacy maps” checkbox on the “Available maps” page. Now you can find our legacy maps in the list of maps.

To convert a legacy map, use the following steps:

  1. Open the legacy map from the “Available maps” page.
  2. Open the configuration panel (expand it if collapsed).
  3. Click “Save As” at the bottom of the panel.
  4. Enter a name for the map (or use the current) and click Ok.

The new map uses the new format and appears on the Available maps list without enabling the “Include legacy maps”. The original legacy map is unchanged.

Bulk conversion of multiple legacy maps

If you need to convert a larger number of legacy maps, then use the following steps. This allows you to convert multiple legacy maps in one operation. You can select which legacy maps to convert using filter and/or map name.

  1. Open the “Available maps” page.
  2. Edit the URL in the address bar of your browser, make it end with /migration:
    1. Example:
      1. From: https://jira.company.com/plugins/servlet/dependency-map/start
      2. To: https://jira.company.com/plugins/servlet/dependency-map/migration
  3. Go to the section “Convert legacy maps”.
  4. Select which legacy maps to convert by one of the following alternatives:
    1. Click “Load legacy maps” to load all legacy maps.
    2. Use a filter to narrow the list.
    3. Search maps by name.
    4. Use the checkboxes to narrow the selection.
  5. Review the list. Maps that have already been converted are marked (already converted).
  6. Click Convert legacy maps to start.
  7. A summary of what has been converted is displayed and the status for each map is displayed:
